The garden of Porthe-Eden is a cottage garden masterpiece and its creators, Rod and Joy Schofield will open it to the public on Saturday, November 3 from 9am to 4pm to raise funds for The Salvos.
For 17 years the Schofields opened their nationally acclaimed garden in Victoria Street, Taree to the public, but a few years ago they decided to sell the property. Their search for a new home, and a new garden, came to an end when they found 122 Cornwall Street, Taree.
During the last few years they have worked to create a garden that is a colourful, peaceful sanctuary, and they hope the community will visit their garden to support the fundraising event. There will be bric-a-brac, plant, cake and lolly stalls, morning tea will be served all day, and there will be performances by violinst, Normie Lambert and local pianists. Funds go to The Salvation Army Hannam Vale–Harrington Corp.
