Wondering when to take your bins to the curb this Christmas holiday period?
For Midcoast Waste Services, which services the Mid Coast Council region, it’s business as usual, with a slight adjustment to the time of day the truck will roll by your curb.
All waste collections continue to operate as normal, however council is asking its residents to put their bins out the night before as collection times may vary.
The week of Christmas (Monday December 24 to Friday December 28) is week B recycling collection and the week of New Years (Monday December 31 to Friday January 4) is week A recycling collection.
Services provided in residential and rural residential areas around the region:
1 x 140 litre red lidded bin for waste (Manning and Great Lakes) 1 x 240L red lidded bin for waste (Gloucester) – collected weekly
1 x 240L yellow lidded bin for recycling – (collected fortnightly)
1 x 240L green lidded bin for greenwaste – (collected fortnightly – Manning; alternate fortnight – Great Lakes and Gloucester)
Services are provided in rural areas around the region:

What can be placed in the red lidded bin:
General waste products and kitchen scraps. For example:
- General household garbage
- Plastic bags and other non-recyclable plastics
- Foam Trays including meat trays
- Pyrex, ceramics or pottery
- Any glass except bottles & jars (including plate glass, windows, mirrors, drinking glasses)
- Broken toys
- Nappies
- Clothes and Rags
- Plastic Buckets
- Takeaway Coffee cups & lids
What can be placed in the yellow lidded bin:
All recyclable items.
- Paper and Cardboard – newspapers, magazines, milk/juice cartons, cardboard boxes, pizza boxes
- Plastics – soft drink bottles, plastic milk bottles, yoghurt containers, ice cream containers, butter/margarine containers, rigid plastic containers (lids in red bin)
- Steel – Food cans, aerosol cans, jar lids, coffee tins
- Aluminium – soft drink/beer cans, clean foil
- Glass – bottles and jars only (all colour)
What can be placed in the green lidded bin:
- Grass clippings
- Tree prunnings
(Weight of bin not to exceed 75Kg)
For Great Lakes residents, if you find you have too much for your regular collection you can contact JR Richards and Sons on 6555 7007 for an additional bin (fees apply).
