Another cool day encouraged another good field for the last day of competition for 2018, however I believe the flies were busy, they must have liked the cooler day too. Kim Arney was the winner of the day with 24 points on a countback from Rhonda Nightingale who seems to get beaten on a countback often, better luck next time Rhonda. Ball winner were Rhonda Nightingale 24, Myrelle Fraser 23, Margaret Dunn 23, Ann Mullen 23 Sue Munro 20 and Ann Maggs 20. NIP 4th@13th Pat Burrows and NTP 6th@15th Margaret Dunn. After golf we had our Christmas party, thanks to Jill and her committee for a lovely afternoon and to Tamsin for the beautiful food. Golf commences January 9, 2019 at 7:30. We wish you a safe and Merry Christmas.
Veterans golf
Last week, the veterans played a 4 ball best ball stableford competition, with an individual comp in conjunction. Another week of excellent scoring, with Phil Hawkins dominating again, with an individual round of 46 points, and partnering with Chris Pritchard, to have the best team score of 47 points. The unfortunate runners up were Bob Kirkup and Glynn Rees with 46 points and Peter Buettel and Ian Maggs on 45 points. Both these would normally easily be the winning scores. Nearest the pins went to Elaine Murray for the ladies on 4/13, and Bob Kirkup took the double on both 4/13 and 6/15. The stayers award went to Jim Dunn and Bruce Fraser.
Men’s golf
On Saturday members played the annual Xmas Cheer Day with nearly all the players picking up a prize. Jamie Andrews had a superb round of 41 pts, which means he had 69 of the bat, well done Jamie. On the day there were many happy winners of the ham prizes for the day. The NTPs went to B McIness in A grade, J Herd in B grade with no one bothering the scorer in C grade or the Ladies, the 2nd shot went Emu and he also won the long drive. Next Saturday is a 2bbb for the Soldiers club trophy day.
Ladies tennis competition
Some trying tennis played in humid conditions, but we all love it. Snape had a close win over Pacchiana, 4/31 to 2/27. Merrilyn and Heather starting with a tie break and a win against Cathy and Sue. The next two games going 6-4 either way. The last three sets going two to Snape and one to Pacchiana. Thanks to Cathy floating for Joannie and Allisa for Kalen and Ruth W for Jan. Harris won 6/36 over Pearson 0/11 Bernie and Georgia with an ace each and Georgia with double faults. Fay’s granddaughter Amber won the raffle with Lorraine winning last week’s.
