Member for Upper Hunter Michael Johnsen said the funding will support the facility in becoming an emergency evacuation centre for the region.
“The lodge currently provides care to the local aging community, however has the facilities and the staffing skills to provide support during an emergency.
“The new generator will mean, should disaster strike, the local community can gather at the centre.
“It will ensure all medical equipment and kitchen appliances will stay operational should power be lost.
“This is particularly important to those in palliative care or those who rely on the likes of oxygen machines,” Mr Johnsen said.
The facility is operational 24 hours a day which means they are able to respond quickly and efficiently if required.
