Newly appointed State drought coordinator, Jock Laurie will be speaking at the upcoming Advance Gloucester meeting.

With dry conditions continuing, Advance Gloucester has invited NSW Land and Water Commissioner and State drought coordinator, Jock Laurie to attend a public meeting in Gloucester.

All interested farmers and landholders  are encouraged to come along to hear how the rest of NSW is fairing. It will also provide an opportunity for local producers to give feedback on conditions impacting on them.

Given we are approaching the end of summer and NSW has received little benefit from normal summer storm patterns, the upcoming season transition will be especially challenging for pasture establishment and growth. River and farm dam levels are also declining, creating further pressure on opportunities for irrigation and farm management options.

With a number of Government programs available to help better manage the current drought as well as future dry times, it is important for landholders to understand what is available and what on-ground implications may need to be considered, if planning to access these incentives going forward.

Gloucester Rotary Club, who has been involved in conducting recent drought support sessions, will also address the meeting to expand on the information and contacts they have gathered, which may also be of help to local landholders.

The meeting will commence at 7.30pm on Wednesday, February 20 at the Gloucester Bowling Club. For further information call 0428 588 215 or 0439 193 288.
