From free music to tech savvy sessions; from digital art exhibitions to financial empowerment workshops, there is something for all tastes and interests.
The 2019 NSW Seniors Festival officially kicked off on Wednesday February 13 and runs until Sunday February 24, with several activities in Gloucester and Stroud.
Running across the entire festival is the Art of Ageing digital photography exhibition at the Gloucester library.
This travelling exhibition celebrates the experience and contributions of older people in NSW, with 30 images and stories that challenge out-dated perceptions of ageing. The exhibit can be viewed during the libraries normal business hours, Monday to Wednesday between 10:am to 2pm and 2:30pm to 5pm, Thursday to Friday from 10am to 2pm and 2:30pm to 4:30pm, or Saturday from 9am to noon.
Also taking place at the Gloucester library on Tuesday February 19 is a tech savvy senior session on smartphones from 10.30am to 12.30pm, with another session to follow at the Stroud library from 2pm to 4pm. Seats are limited so contact the library to book in.
On Wednesday February 20, Stroud library will be holding a ‘How can we assist? Bring a friend day run by MidCoast Assist from 10am until 1pm.
The Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Group is also getting into the spirit of the festival by a straight forward financial advice workshop to Gloucester seniors on Friday February 22. Held at the Gloucester Bowling Club, the workshop will focus on entering retirement living or aged care and how to make your sure finances are in order for the refundable accommodation deposit (RAD) and daily accommodation payment (DAP). Bookings are essential and places are limited. Cost is $15 which includes lunch. Rounding out the festival, Gloucester Soldiers Club is hosting a free concert on Saturday February 23 from 1pm to 3pm in the club’s auditorium at 32 Denison Street. Enjoy an afternoon with Marty "The Music Man" Wooster – a versatile entertainers with a musical career spanning over five decades.
