More than 20 groups across the region have already registered and you can visit the Clean Up Australia Day website to join one of the established groups or create your own.
Schools and businesses have their own clean up days, with schools on March 1 and businesses on February 26.
The theme this year is “Change starts with you’.
“Australia has one of the best natural landscapes in the world, but the rubbish we create is choking our streets, beaches, parks, bushland and waterways,” said Amy Hill, MidCoast Council’s Waste Program co-ordinator.
“We are all part of the litter problem and we should all consider doing our bit to help out.”
“All of us can and should do our bit to make a difference,” said Paul De Szell, MidCoast Council’s director Community Spaces and Services.
This is the 29th year of Clean Up Australia Day. Find out more, join a team or create your own at www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/
