Bert Newman Trophy Day 4BBB
On an exceedingly hot day, there were only 16 starters – four of whom opted to play just nine holes (very sensible!). The winning team was Sally Higgins and Mark Howland on 48 points and the runners up were Bert Newman and Phil Hawkins on 43 points, with Bruce Fraser and Denver Webb also on 43 points. The individual winner, with a terrific 40 points, was Sally Higgins. NTP on 4/13 was Bert Newman and, guess who?, Sally Higgins for the ladies. Stayers award went to the pairing of Noel Cooke and welcome regular visitor, Peter Wildblood (Taree).
A cooler morning greeted the ladies on Wednesday which made it a nice morning for golf. The fields are getting larger each week as we get ready to start the 18 Holes winter competition on the first Wednesday in March. The winner on Wednesday was Moyà Harris with 25 points, nice to see you in the winning circle Moyà. Ball comp winners were Margaret Dunn 22, Ev Blanch 21 Pat Burrows 21, Ann Mullen 21, Myrelle Fraser 18 and Rhonda Nightingale 17points. NTP 4th@13th Margaret Dunn and 6th@15th Moyà Harris. Results from Wednesday which was played in very hot conditions, Jill Carson won the day with 17 points, Ball winners Pam Paff 16, Dale Rabbett 16, Myrelle Fraser 16 Margaret Dunn 15 and Val Smith also with 15 points, Moyà Harris and Alison Windeyer with 13 points. We are having a beginners day on Wednesday 27th February, the event is to be an Ambrose, so find yourself a beginner or maybe someone who hasn’t played golf for a long time and this may encourage them to come back and join us again. Ladies to supply morning tea after golf.
