Last week, in hot temperatures – again – the second round of the Ladies Singles Championships was played. There were four matches, of which one was worthy of a final and that was between Lorraine Ratcliffe and Kerrie Green. At 24-all one more end had to be played, with Lorraine finally defeating Kerrie. In the other matches, Judy Sheely defeated Del Buckton, Joan Ridgeway defeated Jill Everett and Vera Whatmore defeated Jan Jones. There was just one social game of triples played as everyone else was involved with the singles. On Wednesday, the semi-finals will take place between Judy Sheely and Lorraine Ratcliffe and Vera Whatmore and Joan Ridgeway. Hopefully, the weather will have cooled somewhat.
