On Saturday members played the monthly stroke/medal rnd for trophies kindly donated by the Clarke family of Arkwood. The day also saw the annual Mug Of Mugs event being contested with the winner being Brian "Hairy" Osborne with 72 nett, well done Hairy. The winner of the monthly medal was Tom "Darby" Yates with a great score of 69 nett and he definitely showed some of our younger players how to skull a beer. The other winners on the day were S Foot in A grade with 71 nett on a countback and B Fraser in B grade with 70 nett. The gross winners were P Bowden in A grade with 76, B Osborne in B grade and T Yates in C grade. The ball comp went down to 76 nett. The NTPs went to P Bowden in A grade, no one in B grade was good enough to hit the green, G Randall in C grade and the long drive went to T Yates to wrap up a great day for Darby. Next week is the annual Helloworld trophy day which will be a stableford event, which will be followed by 2 man ambrose event for the annual Gloucester Ceramics trophy day. Don't forget that the annual Tom Blundell Memorial day will be on Saturday the 23rd of this month get your names down as the time sheet is filling quickly. Yours in Golf The Shanker!!
Veterans
Last Tuesday was the monthly stroke round with a putting competition held in conjunction. Chris Pritchard won the day with a nett score of 70. Runner up was David Hjorth, followed by Bruce Fraser on 72, Roy Crichton and Bob Kirkup on 73 and Bill Murray on 74. Nearest the pins went to Roy Crichton and Elaine Murray on the 4/13th and to Mark Stone on 6/16. Chris Pritchard also won the putting comp with 28 putts and the Stayers award went to Peter Buettel.
3 Person Ambrose
Wednesday was the last day of our Summer Competition which attracted 17 players to play in the 3-person Ambrose Beginners Day. It was great to see new faces among us and we hope you will join us more often. The winners of the 9 hole event were Myrelle Fraser, Dale Rabbett with Susie Higgins as their beginner, they had a nice round of 24.5 nett. Runners up were Ann Mullen, Effie Crawley and Pat Burrows 26.5 nett. NTP 4th/13th Marg Dunn, Rhonda Nightingale and Gai Fella and they also won NTP on the 6th/15th. Next week's event is the first round of the Monthly Medal sponsored by Kay Holstein and Lorna Taylor. Hit off time is 8:30am for the month of March.
