Ladies golf
It was a foggy start to the Stableford event on Wednesday, the day was good for golf except the last few holes got to be quite hot, which got too humid for a couple of players who felt the heat and didn't finish.

Bob Kirkup/Mark Howland Trophy Day
A dozen players from Shortland Waters GC joined us today for Bob and Mark's 2 ball aggregate Trophy Day and we hope this is the first of an annual home and away series. The aggregate winners were Denver Webb and Rick Paff, with the individal winner on 38pts, Bill Murray.
Runners up balls went to Tony Burnet 36, Bruce Fraser 34, Di Pritchard 33, and Keith Whitby 33, - all Gloucester players - and from Shortland Waters C Morrow 33, P Nystrom 31 and R Walker 26. The NTP winners were, 6/15 Bill Murray, 4/13 Ladies Ele Fraser and 4/13 Men Denver Webb.
Bob and Mark also gave a special prize on the 12th , The oldest player to get down in par! This was (reluctantly) won by none other than Denver Webb.
An excellent barbecue lunch followed and thanks go to David Hjorth and his helpers.
On Wednesday thirteen Vets and Ladies played at Wingham for the inaugural Glowing Shield - an annual home and away fixture - and whilst we all enjoyed the course and the hospitality, we seemed to come second by a long way!
Next week we have a chance to redeem ourselves as we entertain Wingham for the home leg of the competition; the combined results of the two rounds will decide who holds the Glowing Trophy for the first year. This will also be the Keith and Judy Caldwell Trophy Day Stableford with another BBQ for our visitors (and us of course).
Tom Blundell Memorial Day
What a day! Members and friends of Tom made a big effort to commemorate a day that is in his memory.
To all the people that made the day a huge success, Thanks, and there were a lot of you. It was great to to see Tom's dad, Ron, out there to help us celebrate the day.I know that he doesn't want the recognition but a big thanks must go to Paul Garland for his continued support of this day and all the organization he did to make the day the success it was. The winners on the day were David and Wayne Maddalena, Andrew Sansom and Tim Briggs with 55 1/2 nett, apparently Andy and Dave played very well. The prizes went down to 58 3/4. There were numerous NTPs and long drives, once again sponsored by Garlo, congratulations to all those winners. Once again it was fantastic to see the support our community gives to one of our favourite friends, I know we all wish he was here to sing the song with us, unfortunately he is not, rest in peace mate! Next weekend is the annual Derro's day which is a 2bbb event and the following weekend will be the monthly stroke/medal round. It is time to get your names in for annual Derro's 2bbb matchplay event, I'll have a sheet up this week so you can nominate your teams. Yours in Golf The Shanker!!
