On Wednesday April 3, a fist full of $500 cheques were handed out to a range of sporting clubs, individuals and organisations direct from the op shop's profits.

The thankful recipients were Bucketts Radio, Gloucester Soccer Club, Gloucester Netball, Gloucester Little Athletics, the Gloucester Show, Jessica Relf and some of the volunteers who collected stadium chairs.

Bucketts Radio is putting its funds towards getting an uninterrupted power supply and increasing its coverage by 400 per cent.

"It means we won't lose power in a blackout, giving us time to come in and turn off the equipment so it doesn't get damaged,' Lorna Tomkinson from Bucketts Radio explained.

Gloucester Soccer Club will be putting the funds towards new equipment, like soccer balls and uniforms. For Gloucester Netball, new jackets will be purchased to help complete the professional look of its representative teams.

"It gives Gloucester a more professional look when playing against other teams,' netball president, Sally Maslen said.

Gloucester Little Athletics will be investing in much needed new high jump mats, ensuring the athletes can continue to participate in the event.

For Jessica Relf, the funds will go toward the costs of her journey to Townsville to play in the under 18s Women's NSW Country basketball team at the Under 18 Championships and Kevin Coombs Cup from April 13 to 20.

Gloucester AH&P will be using its donation for the Gloucester Show to help cover the costs of the entertainment for the event held on April 5 and 6.

Lastly, the shop's committee decided it would be important to help cover some of the costs endured by Howard Shultz, Ian Sansom and Bruce Snape, who drove their cattle trucks to Allianz Stadium in Sydney to pick up 1,000 stadium chairs for Gloucester clubs to install for crowd seating.

Since opening its doors in September last year, the Gloucester Community Shop has donated around $9000 back into the community.
