Avalon Road at Krambach has received an overhaul which included reconstruction of the existing road pavement and widening of lanes. A temporary seal along the 630 metre stretch of improved road has been applied, allowing the newly laid road pavement to settle into place and ensuring a smoother, safer route for commuters and travelers.
Its final seal is due to be undertaken in the Spring, followed by additional projects to rehabilitate the remainder of Avalon Road that will roll out over the next four years.
At Killawarra, rehabilitation of a 2.1 kilometre section of Gloucester Road has been undertaken over the past six months, with a scope of works including road and shoulder widening, resurfacing, improved roadside drainage, and traffic guidance improvements.
The result will be a wider, smoother and more durable road surface, providing a safer driving environment.
And down south, a 2.2km section of Stroud Hill Road at Washpool is the focus of a major upgrade to address roadside drainage and culverts, as well as a rehabilitated road pavement. Works are due for completion this month.
"All three projects have been designed to improve safety outcomes for our community," council's manager, Projects and Engineering Rhett Pattison explained.
The projects are funded by the NSW Government in association with MidCoast Council, as part of the $100 million dollar Road Upgrade Package, which has already seen major works completed along The Lakes Way at Bungwahl and Charlotte Bay, Old Bar Road, and sections of Thunderbolts Way at Baxters Ridge and Mares Run.
"Projects are continuing to roll out under the upgrade package, including current works on The Bucketts Way at Tinonee, The Lakes Way at Forster, and additional rehabilitation along Thunderbolts Way at Barrington," Rhett added.
This year's Capital Works program is part of MidCoast Council's commitment to improving the roads that connect communities across the region.
