Last Wednesday was the first round of the Ladies' Pairs competition, results as follows:
Margaret Andrews and Val Pritchard def. Dorelle Schneider and Jenny Burley (24-8)
Joan Ridgeway and Judy Sheely def. Katharine Stuckings and Di Lockwood (26-10)
Jill Everett and Jean Holstein def. Vera Whatmore and June Carter (25-14)
Del Buckton and Bev Germon def. Bev Murray and Jan Jones (18-14)
Two social games of triples were also played on the grass green.
Today, the next round will be played, with the following teams:
Ruth Redman and Jeanette Mumford v Colleen Atkins and Patty West
Michelle Biggs and Lorraine Ratcliffe v Di Pritchard and Kerrie Green
Joan Ridgeway and Judy Sheely v Val Pritchard and Margaret Andrews
Jill Everett and Jean Holstein v Del Buckton and Bev Murray
Men's
The No. three pennants match against Wingham on Saturday was washed out with much needed rain but the catch up match date had not been decided at time of print.
Gloucester play Tuncurry on 11 May at home and are in with a show as Old Bar suffered a 9-1 defeat last week. The semi finalists in the major championships have been decided following Sundays results. John Andrews def Andrew Henderson 31-9 and now will play Col Linton following Col's victory over Aaron Kelly by 31-12. In the other semi Terry Davies will play Jason Cassidy following their respective wins over Neville Atkins and Kevin Burley 31-26 and 31-22.
Thursday bowls saw 26 players take to the grass green which is in great condition at present and will only improve with more action. Winners were Kevin Burley, Clive Redman, Joe Holstein over Neville Atkins, Robbie Bowden, Jim McIntosh 20 + 19. Runners up were Mathew Higgins, Stacey Groves, Peter Jones who defeated Mark Tull, Terry Higgins, Wayne Groves in a grudge match 20 + 15. Other matches resulted in wins for Kevin Everett, Peter Sansom, Frank Wells over Terry Davies, Vic Hebblewhite, Col Beattie 18 + 16, Lu Urby, Phil Walls def John Andrews, Mike Sheely 16 + 2 and Tony Tersteeg, Alec Laurie def Andrew Henderson, Chris Pritchard 15 + 1.
Saturday bowls was washed out and on Mothers Day the club has live music by Rattlesnake from 11am until 3pm.
A huge thank you to all who attended the working bee on Monday to prepare for the ladies state carnival the work you volunteers do is incredible.
