Our 13s played away against the Tuncurry Tigers and with some players away, we had to move around some players. Mitch stepped in as goalie, Jess moved up to mid field and Alex came in as a defender. The two teams battled backward and forwards with both sides attacking the goals.
At half time we were down 2/0. We came back and totally dominated the second half and within five minutes, Nick kicked one into the back of the goals. Jess, Harvey, Ryan and Alex put in a fantastic performance, but unfortunately we just couldn't finish it off. Tuncurry won 2/1.
Gloucester Soldiers
The men's team travelled to face the Lansdowne Lions on Saturday, May 18. Gloucester won the toss and decided to run with the sun at their backs, while the backline of Andrew Hughes, Beau Boyd, Dylan Schultz and Matthew Trudgeon were put under some early pressure with Lansdowne grabbing a goal within the opening seven minutes. Gloucester realised they had to lift a little and then worked hard throughout the first half with Harry Clarke's goal being disallowed due to being offside after a cross from Geoff Hawkins. Just before half time, Damian Rolvink drew a foul inside the penalty box to be awarded a penalty, unfortunately Gloucester could not capitalise and went into the break 1-0 down.
The second half, Daniel Hughes saved some superb shots from the Lions striker. Gloucester had some attempts at goals but unfortunately could not find the back of the net. Lansdowne shot a long range chip at our keeper, and then snuck another one in just before full time, to claim a 3-0 victory.
Next Saturday, May 25 sees all the Gloucester teams at home. CRT 13s kick off at 10am against Great Lakes. Drifta 16s at 11.20am against Halliday's Point, men's at 1pm against Cundletown Jets.
Wauchope gala day
The under eights headed to Wauchope gala day on Sunday May 19, where they won all matches which led them winning the grand final. The team includes Miller Ribbons, Joshua Stanton, Justin Boorer, Charlie and William Coombe, Riley Blanch, Jarrah Baker and Eli Stuckings.
Division 1
Autolec v Bucketts Building Supplies: Unfortunately Autolec fell short on numbers for their game and forfeited giving Bucketts Building Supplies the win. There was a friendly game, thank you Cameron Badham for playing for Autolec. This game was a well contested game. Bree and Chloe defended well and James attacked hard all day. There was great sportsmanship shown through out the game.
Accommodation Gloucester v Gloucester Community Shop: These two teams were well matched up, with great attacking from Jyah, James and Sam but equally good defence from Alarni, Audrey and Emily. A great game with Community Shop having far more goal scoring opportunities.
Division 4
Ollies Service Centre v Bucketts Building Supplies; This was an awesome game with lots of goals scored! Great sportsmanship and encouragement by others.
Gloucester Community Shop v Barrington Trophies; A great game played by all. Great goal scoring from Jarrah and Toby. All players showed a big improvement in ball skills.
Gloucester Home Improvement Services v Darrels Gourmet Butchery; A very even and strong game against Darrels Butchery. Unfortunately they were too strong taking the win. Jake and Mitch tried their best to keep red in the game with a lot of help from Jaxson.
Division 3
Gloss-Ter Carwash v Annie McKee; Carwash good, even fair game. Goals scored by Bradley and Brodie! Good defence by Amos and Maisie. Annie McKee well played Bodhi, Lincoln and Poppy good defence. Score was 5-2 Carwash
Water & Tipper v Gloucester BlueLight; Water & Tipper great team work again. They are starting to gel as a team! Passing from wing to centre. Working hard for their goals. Shout out to Sarah for first time goalie win to BlueLight 6-2
Gloucester Medico v Community Shop; Medico defence was a bit thin this week not too many passes, not much team work. This unfortunately reflected on the score sheet! A win to Community shop over Medico. They showed exceptional team work. We couldn't praise them enough. Training paid off.
