Wednesday was the 27 Hole 4BBB Championships and what a terrible day to have to play 27 holes, the cold wind made for a very miserable day, however we now know who are the keen golfers. Ann Mullen was the sponsor for the day, once again we thank you Ann for your sponsorship. Cheryl Goodrich and Ev Blanch were the Championship winners with 65 points, congratulations girls, you must have combined well. Runners Up with 60 points were Anne Maggs and Val Smith ( nice to see you can still get around 27 holes Val.) Ball Competition winners were Pam Paff and Rhonda Nightingale 58 points, Gai Randall and Annette Cravino winning the last ball with 54 points. NTP 4th@13th, Ev Blanch, 6th@15th, Division 1 Ev Blanch and Division 3, Anne Maggs, no one from Division 2 managed to stay on the green. On Friday some of our girls played at Tuncurry Ladies Open Day, Alison Windeyer came home a winner, winning Division 4 and also the long drive and a NTP, you certainly had a great day Alison. Next weeks event is Monthly Medal No4, sponsored by Jill Carson and Angela Sampson.
Arkwood stroke/medal rnd
On Saturday members played the monthly stroke/medal rnd for trophies, once again supplied by the Clarke family of Arkwood. Their continued support of our club is greatly appreciated by all our members. The winner of the monthly mug was a very popular Ken Wiggins with 71 nett on a countback from H Teese who was the B grade winner for the day. A Grade went to Phil Bowden also on a countback with a 72 nett. The gross winners in each grade were the above players. The NTPs were not great this week with the only winner being Steve Burns in A grade, no other grade managed to hit the green, the long drive went to P Bowden. The ball comp went down to 75 nett. Could all players involved with the Derro's match play get their respective matches completed as soon as possible and the same goes for the graded match plays as well, so we can progress these 2 comps along. This Saturday is the Barlow Bros Texas shootout with the time sheet being very full already, so get your teams in soon if you want to participate. The following weekend is the Teacher's cup. Yours in Golf The Shanker!!!
