Drifta 16's secure win over Tuncurry Gold
Drifta started out strong with great ball control, keeping possession with numerous quality passes against Tuncurry Gold at Tuncurry on Saturday, June 22. Cody Howard soon wore out Tuncurry's left fullback with countless runs to the corner with excellent crosses. Kelly Groves, Aiden Hawkins and Jackson Scanlon were working hard in the midfield pushing the ball forward into the flanks, which provided Gloucester with a corner kick. With the wind at their backs, Cody performed a set play with Kelly at the near post to offload it back to Cody who nailed a screamer from the corner of the 18 yard box.
Drifta went into half time with a 1-0 lead, but knew that they had to perform well going into the wind for the second half. Drifta's defensive line worked hard with Isaac Earle Broadley coming out of goals, converting some defensive moves into attacking plays. Drifta came up with another superb goal by Cody Howard slotting his second goal for the day into the back of the net, bringing the full time score to 2-0. Drifta are at their home ground this Saturday, June 29, battling it out with second placed Wingham Warriors at 11.20am.
