Under 11's - For many, it was the first time they had played together and we turned up to find a smaller than usual field for the game, ensuring a hard fought fixture. It was a tight first 10 minutes with both teams passing the ball around and settling into the game. Gloucester managed to take the lead with a long distance shot with Rory Gambrill finding the back of the net after 10 minutes. This seemed to wake up the Tea Gardens side who started applying pressure on the Gloucester goal. In a 15 minute period, Tea Gardens managed three goals which saw the score at half time 3 to 1.
The second half was brilliant football from both sides. Tea Gardens stretched their lead to five goals to one by the midpoint of the half, however Gloucester started to attack in earnest and were denied many attempts at goals by the good work and goalkeeper, until two corner kicks from Thomas Coombe found their mark. The first saw a solid strike from Rory Gambrill into the net followed a short time later by a first time strike by Matthew Woods past the crowded defensive line. Logan Webeck produced many headers to clear the ball out of the defensive line while Albie Cameron and Jack Joliffe did a wonderful job as goalkeepers and then defenders. Alicia Edwards made some great runs up the side and Bradley Rayner was everywhere, defending and attacking. Andrew Fraser and Logan Gambrill made great contributions at both ends of the field throughout the game. Gloucester really started working well together however there just wasn't enough time to peg the lead back. The final score was 5 - 3 to Tea Gardens Thank you to all the parents and families for making the trip down south for the day. Thank you also to Tea Gardens for putting on a great day, we look forward to catching up again next year.
Under 7's - Set the tone for the day by playing really well. Gloucester enjoyed a 4-1 victory and were admirably served by the following players: Max controlled the defence giving us a firm base to work from, Ewen, Eli, Dane. Sahara and Bohdi controlled the mid field with Will, Jarrah and Peter making the most of their opportunities. The positional play and Great team work held them in good stead. Well done Team!

CRT 13s
Last week, we played Wallamba and the Scorpions where on fire, playing extremely well, winning 6/0.
This week, we played Tinonee at home and knew from the start it would be a tough game. Tinonee struck first with a lucky goal 10 minutes into the game. They picked up a second 10 minutes later, then the Scorpions dug deep and went to the half time break down 2/1.
The second Tinonee knew we were vulnerable and put an extra player in their defence, making it a lot tougher to break through, but the Scorpions didn't let this stop them with several unlucky attempts at goal. With five minutes left, Tinonee finally got to play in the other end of the field and when luck goes with you at the start it seems to follow through the game, Tinonee winning 3/1.
Drifta's close clash with warriors
Placed third on the ladder, Drifta 16's knew they were in for a close battle on Saturday June 29 playing up against second-placed Wingham Warriors.
Harrison Edwards, Sam Leimgruber and Lane Edwards combined well in the middle pushing the ball forward to Kelly Groves and Beau Blanch, who both had a handful of opportunities but were stopped by the keeper. A free kick awarded to Wingham from outside the box, was converted to an unstoppable goal at the 20 minute mark. Cody Howard ran through a gap in their defence and crossed to Kayden Schumann who connected with the ball to create a brilliant goal, but within the minute Wingham retaliated and zigzagged their way through Drifta to bring the score to 2-1 at half time.
Defenders Tristyn Beard and Isaac McClure worked tirelessly in the backline keeping the Warriors scoreless for the entire second half, along with Hayden Reid's slide tackles taking any goal scoring opportunities from them. Warriors also ramped up their defence in the second half with neither team able to break through. Final score 2-1 to Wingham.
Drifta travel to Cundletown to play Cundletown Jets at 11.20am Saturday July 6.
Barbarians too strong for Soldiers Club
Saturday (June 29) saw Old Bar Barbarians travel to Gloucester to play Gloucester Soldiers Club Men's team in an unusually hot afternoon, kicking off at 1pm. Old Bar were on the attack straight up, scoring two quick goals in the opening minutes, while Damian Rolvink fired one at their goals. Captaining the side for the day, Andrew Hughes had an outstanding defensive game in the backline with the help of Caleb Walker, Beau Boyd, Mathew Trudgeon and Dylan Schultz.
Jim Bird donned the goalie shirt for the second half, providing Daniel Hughes some time on the field and in turn almost scored himself a goal, going one on one with the keeper. Owen Tomlinson and Frank Ostlund worked tirelessly in the midfield with some great attacking runs, only to have their attempts thwarted by Old Bar's defensive line. A slide tackle from the Soldiers inside the box brought on a penalty which the Barbarians converted late in the second half bringing the score to 6-0.
Next Saturday July 6, Gloucester Soldiers Club will be seeking a win when they travel to Taree to face the 11th placed Wildcats at 3pm.

White came out firing in the second half and quickly evened up the contest curtesy of a Tom Maggs goal.
