Winners of the major prize money were Vic Hebblewhite who had an easy day after fellow players Terry Davies and Jim McIntosh set up most ends for him resulting in a 32-9 whopping over Peter Sansom, Steve Patch, Terry Carson, Runners up were Tony Tersteeg who once again was well supported by Neville Atkins and Joe Holstein playing above his weight at present to def Mathew Higgins, Wayne Groves, Paul Sheridan 26-15, Lu Urby, Mike Sheely, Chris Pritchard def Kevin Burley, Graham Turnbull, John West 27-20, Bob Charman, Steven Higgins, Col Beattie narrowly edged out Andrew Henderson, Phil Walls, Alec Laurie 22-18 and the remaining match was a pairs game with Stacey Groves, George Wisemantel def Kevin Everett, Gary Moss 22-14.
Sunday saw the final of the men's triples championships played in summer conditions with the Groves gang jumping away to an early lead but the the opposition settled the nerves and fought back appearing to get on top during the middle ends. However Mark, Phillip playing some great draw bowls and Wayne Groves proved to strong for Col Hebblewhite, Bruce Wilson and Kevin Baker winning 24-17. Saturday bowls were cancelled due to the pennant trials which are played at the same time each Saturday during July. The first round of the men's fours championships will be played on Sunday 14 July and nominations are on the board for the mixed pairs.
Ladies - Fours Championships
Last week the ladies played the semi-finals of the Fours Championships, with the following results: Judy Sheely, Bev Germon, Jill Everett and Joan Ridgeway defeated Colleen Atkins, Lorraine Ratcliffe, Pattie West and Kerrie Green (22-14) and Di Pritchard, Jan Jones, Jean Holstein and Bev Murray defeated Val Pritchard, Del Buckton, Margaret Andrews and Pat Cox.
The final was played on Sunday, July 7, with the result that Judy Sheely, Bev Germon, Jill Everett and Joan Ridgeway defeated Di Pritchard, Jan Jones, Jean Holstein and Bev Murray.
