Two Garys Trophy - Single Stableford
One of the highlights of the golfing calendar was played on Saturday & we extend our hearty thank you to the indomitable pair of Gary's (namely Randall & Cravino) who sponsor this prestigious event each & every year.
Great sponsorship from two great blokes - just wish they wouldn't enjoy themselves that much so the bus driver could go home a little earlier.
The conditions out on the course were better than expected with mostly fine, sunny weather and just the odd gust of wind to keep the players honest.
Best score of the day went to the youthful C Grader Thomas "Darby" Yates whose concentration levels on a golf course are something to behold. Nice shooting Darb. With scores like that you'll be back in B Grade before you know it.
A Grade winner for the day was the in-form Wayne Maddalena. Wacka is in a purple patch at present & the fact that I've mentioned it in this report should put a stop to it. Wacka's score of 35 points was a tale of two nines with 23 of those 35 points secured on the back half of the round.
B Grade winner was taken out by Bruce Fraser who is never far away from the winners circle whenever a golf club graces his hands. Bruce had 33 points in his fine round.
NTPs: A. Craig McLeod; B. G. Fishing; C. M. Stone. A Grade Long Drive Brian McInnes - first long drive Barney has won since 1942.
Ball Comp winners: Darby 38; Wacka 35; Barney Mac 34; McLeod Crack; 34; Steve MacDonald 33; Bruce Fraser 33.
Next week's event is a single stableford event kindly sponsored by the Lower North Coast Golf Association. On the following day (Sun 21 July) we have the Club Foursomes Championship - please line your partner up & put names on the sheet early. Your support for this event would be greatly appreciated.
The final Saturday of July is the Furniture One Trophy Day - 4 man ambrose.
Good golfing. Shankers apprentice.
