Troubled Victorian recycling company SKM has received some good news from the state's environmental watchdog after reducing waste stockpiles at one of its Melbourne depots.

The company was told to fix its outdoor stockpiles at the Coolaroo facility or face a potential ban on collecting further material.
The EPA said on Thursday inspections of the business found SKM had complied with the order.
"The facility, which processes large amounts of household recyclables collected by local councils, can now operate normally but can expect regular monitoring to continue," the EPA said in a statement.
SKM Services Pty Ltd is responsible for collecting about half the state's kerbside recycling and has been plagued by problems, including growing waste stockpiles which exceed its licence limitations, and fires which have created toxic smoke.
