Broome and his mount, Talawahl Seattle, have performed consistently in the first two rounds of the Futurity Challenge. They placed third, out of 20 competitors, in both rounds and accumulated 327.5 points.
Just behind the leader is Jack Lawrence, from Rosebrook, with Ashkat Limits Unknown on 325 points, closely followed by local competitors, Hugh Main (Silverthorn Urban Oak on 324 pts), Bruce Snape (Taravale Megastar on 321.5 pts) and Paul Wardell (Silverthorn Conductrice on 320.5 pts).
In the Rookie division, Jordyn Snape on Taravale Playdough, heads the leader board with 337.5 points, and is followed by a compact group comprising Georgia Owers-Neilson on 328 points, Christine Jones on 327, Tanya Duncan on 326 and Lisa Hawkins on 322.5.
Only two Juvenile competitors contested the competitive second round with Callum Bailey (on Elmwood Dynamo) on 156 points finishing ahead of Ellie Butcher on 147 points.
The Junior division has five competitors with Brodie Meredith from Armidale earning 151 points, to hold a good lead over Lucinda Kern (132.5), Lillian Meredith (131), Melody Maslen (130) and Hunter Heath (129.5).
The final rounds will be held at Gloucester Showground on Sunday, August 4, starting at 9.30am, comprising of two rounds of campdraft, a hacking pattern and a working horse pattern.
The overall results will most likely come down to the final round of campdraft scores.
