The Gloucester Soldiers Club men's team played its final game of the season up against the Great Lakes Vikings. The last time they met, the Soldiers Club came away with a 11-0 loss. This week, with a full team and some fill-ins from the 16s, they were a force to be reckoned with even in the unusually hot afternoon. Jim Bird saved some superb goals against the strong attacking Vikings, while Beau Boyd and Caleb Walker worked tirelessly in defence with Samuel Mundy. Aiden Coombes, Harry Clarke and Josh Thant combined well up front and were unlucky not to come away with a few goals each. Lukas Dellsperger and Geoff Hawkins held the midfield together with some solid passes, while Daniel Hughes tried his hand at an attacking half. Soldiers Club kept the Vikings at bay this time, only going down 2-0.
DRIFTA 16s
This weekend saw Drifta with two games, one home game on Saturday and a catch-up game on Sunday. Against Cundletown 15s, Drifta's domination in the first half saw Kayden Schumann score two goals that brought out their keeper. Sam Leimgruber and Cody Howard also added to the scoreline to bring a comfortable 4-0 lead at half time.
Tristyn Beard donned the goalie shirt for the second half, keeping a clean sheet and also providing Isaac Earle Broadley a run on the park. Cody Howard slotted another one away after a solid diagonal cross from Aiden Hawkins past the goalmouth. Kelly Groves and Aiden Coombes provided the Jets keeper with plenty of action. Sam Leimgruber came away with a hat-trick this week after two quick goals before full time, bringing the final score to 7-0.
Sunday's catch up game was a tough battle with a skeleton crew of 11 for both Drifta and Cundletown 16s. Tough decisions were made for the keepers position this week, with Hayden Reid filling in for the first half. Cody Howard dug deep with a low powerful shot at the keeper to bring the first half to a 1-0 lead.
Kelly Groves stepped into goals for the second half, saving some corners and free kicks. Drifta welcomed Josh Anniwell back to the field this week, zigzagging his way through the Jets defensive line. He was rewarded with two great goals for his persistence. Isaac McClure had a great weekend in the defensive line, clearing the ball away with some great tackles. A scramble on front of goals in the remaining moments of the game saw the Jets claim their only goal. The final score was 3-1. This Saturday, Drifta travel to Tuncurry to play the Tigers.
DIVISION 1
It was a great game between Accommodation Gloucester and Autolec. Accommodation Gloucester showed great defence which helped prevent many goals. Two goals each to Beth and Caleb. Very well played. The final score was 4-3 to Accommodation Gloucester.
Bucketts Building Supplies and Gloucester Community Shop had five players each for their game. Hayden's first game of the season was a blinder with his speed down the field the difference. He scored six goals. There were 10 very tired players after 50 minutes. The final score was 9-6 to Community Shop.
DIVISION 2
Gloucester Bluelight against Gloucester Community Shop kicked off a big day of football with some great passing from both teams. Maya Smith, Melia Humphrey worked really well with Andrew Fraser to move the ball forward allowing him to score two goals.
While in the back row, Mia Blamires and Jack Joliffe thwarted many attacking raids from Gloucester Community Shop. To top it off Albie Cameron was fantastic in goals, many times putting his body on the line to save some hard hitting attempts at goal.
Tamika Smith and Mia Hardy shared the goal keeping role for Gloucester Community Shop and did a great job across the game. Logan Webeck worked hard with Harry Cross to get the ball into the opposing half with Harry landing three goals. Rory Gambrill in the forwards landed one goal and swapped with Hayley Fisher-Webster in the second half to allow Hayley to score her first goal of the season. Thomas Coombe spent the whole game everywhere on the field blocking as many plays as possible in his mid field role. The final score was 5-2.
A goal to Bradley Rayner in the first half started the scoring for the Gloucester Woolworths against Avon Valley Concreting.
Georgia Hughes also made her mark with a stint in the forwards landing her one goal to add to Bradley's. Asher Baker in return landed one goal for Avon Valley Concreting before the end of the half.
Thomas Maggs, Blake Walker and Joseph Hogan worked hard in this half to keep pushing the ball out of their half. However Xavier Soupidis and Hayley Green-Crook returned the pressure repeatedly getting the ball back across half way.
Felicity Holstein and Emily George worked relentlessly in defence, assisting Connor Garnham in the goal keeping role. Rose Murphy and Ella Morgan in the backs made it difficult for Avon Valley Concreting to score in the second half.
Xavier Soupidis succeeded in landing three goals to finish off the game. The final score was 5-1.
The sun was well and truly shining by the start of the third game between Gloucester Tax and Accounting and Gloucester Soldiers Club.
Aliya Lyall and Jessie Marchant kept the Gloucester Tax and Accounting team at bay at the start of the game. However a hand ball in the box with a penalty shot from Sam Ellis landed the first goal for Gloucester Soldiers Club.
After this, the ball moved continually from end to end until Matthew Woods found the net for Gloucester Soldiers Club. Ruben Hutchins and Alicia Edwards spent a lot of time attacking the goal providing some great passes, but unfortunately Alicia only landed the one goal.
Phineas Hester spent a lot of time clearing the ball in the second half and also landed another goal for Gloucester Soldiers Club. Nick Maggs had a great game, coming from deep in his half to score in the corner of the net and following up quite quickly with another two goals.
Seth Toohill-Sargent worked hard in goals, defending some great shots at goal. Mia Tresidder, Drew Gorton and Bodhi Ashby were pretty warm by the end of the game after tireless defence in the ever warming day.
The second goal for Gloucester Tax and Accounting came off a free kick with Mia Morgan dribbling the ball over the line for her first goal. The final goal came again from Matthew Woods. The final score was 7-2.

DIVISION 3
Community Shop had a fantastic game against Bluelight where Justin scored six goals. Ajay, Chris and Jarrod all had terrific performances. Ajay scored four goals, Jarrod two and Chris one. Beau and Joshua never stopped sprinting up the field and all boys showing great sportsmanship. Usually these sides are neck and neck but this wasn't to be the case with Community Shop winning 13-3.
The Gloss-Ter Carwash and Water and Tipper contest was a great game to watch. Jali and Benji were great in defence in a fast and even game. Toby and Riley worked well in attack while Pharaoh was always ready to get involved in all the plays. The final score was a 4-all draw.
Despite a 7-0 win over Annie McKee, Medico conceded they needed to pass the ball more. Jacob was excellent for Medico, the Coombe boys were great while Hunter and Eli were solid. Annie McKee welcomed a fast game and said everyone in the side played well.
DIVISION 4
Community Shop tried hard right to the final whistle against Ollies Service Centre. Toby was really unlucky not to score after a lot of close calls. Jesse also played a great game.
Gloucester Home Improvement Services against Bucketts Building Supplies was also a great contest. There was good teamwork from Home Improvement Services, with their kicks and passing on point. Mitch had a big game with four goals. Daisey got her first goal of the season. Hamish kicked his second goal of the season. Bucketts Building had a great game, with lots of improvements as the season wore on. Everyone worked together to move the ball around the field with great passing and goals.
