The Magpies have invited all former and current players to don the prized black and white jersey at Bert Gallagher Oval for Old Boys Day.
This will be a celebration of the long and successful history of the club, which included premierships in 1988, 2008 and 2011.
Past players and life members will present vintage jerseys with their surnames to current players. These will be auctioned off that night. Players will relive their glory days in the Group Three, Saturday Group Three and Hunter Valley competitions.
One key moment in the club's history was its rebirth in 1983 after a two year hiatus. The club found early success during its time in the Group Three Saturday League. A stint in the Sunday competition followed before a run in the Hunter Valley Saturday competition. The Magpies have been a strong contender over the years, at one stage a force in the B-grade competition.
"Come down on Saturday and reminisce about that great break or huge tackle and let your mates remind you of the missed tackles and dropped balls," a club spokesperson said.
Old Boys Day will double as a fund raiser for the Gloucester Prostate Cancer Support Group. The group provides support to men and their partners dealing with prostate cancer.
It also provides small financial assistance for people who need it as well as guidance through various government assistance schemes.
This is why fundraisers, such as this weekend at Old Boys Day, are crucial to the organisation.
Other fundraisers to come include a trivia night on August 31 and a barbecue at IGA on September 14.
All men aged 40 and up should get their prostate checked by a local doctor. Early detection has a huge success rate so there should be no excuse," the group said.
Back on the park, Gloucester are in contention to lift the 2019 C-grade trophy. There's a tight battle at the top of the table between the Magpies, Aberglasslyn and Tall Timbers for minor premiership honours. That's why the Old Boys Day clash firms as one of the games of the season.
Coach Andrew Middlebrook said the side has grown leaps and bounds as the season wore on.
"It has been another year of rebuilding after losing a large number of our 2018 grand final side, including some key players. In fact we played our first game with 14 players.
"As a team we have been building a bond and connecting on the paddock building combinations, learning how each other plays, learning the basis and style of football Gloucester wants to and likes to play," Middlebrook said.
Gloucester based players have continued to improve while those who live outside the area were welcomed with open arms.
"I'm excited and pinch myself that I get to play alongside such a good playing group. There are players in our side who have played in and won several Newcastle rugby league first grade grand finals, players who won the A-grade and B-grade comp last year and played at higher levels," Middlebrook said.
Kick off against the Tall Timbers on Saturday is 3pm.
