Carson Family 2BBB / Mixed Foursomes Championships

Saturday - The weather over the weekend was markedly improved. Players enjoyed full sunshine & light winds for the 2BBB stableford compared to the icy & blustery conditions of last weekend's Mid-Winter Open. We extend our sincere thanks to the Carson family who were our sponsors for Saturday's event. Terry & Jill have been long term supporters of the golf club & have spent an enormous amount of time to help keep our great little club running smoothly. Bradley Cooper & Craig McLeod combined beautifully & kept the pressure on to turn in a "coal into diamonds" result of 48 points. Good golfing lads - you were far & away the best score on the day. Runners up (on a c/b from Tom Dare & Paul Benson) were the dastardly duo of Graeme Marsh & Kevin Arney with a well-compiled 44 pts NTPs : A: Wayne Maddalena; B: David Mann; C: Paul Benson B Grade Long Drive : Peter Bignell 2nd Shot NTP: Paul Blanch Ball Comp winners: Abovementioned teams + Roy Crichton & Derek Bardwell 43 pts

Sunday - Mixed Foursomes Championships Sunday saw the annual Mixed Foursomes being played out. Unfortunately the numbers were down with only 7 pairs taking part. At least the weather was kind & the greens in tip top shape. The mother/son combo of Evelyn & Paul Blanch chalked up yet another title. Their score of 126 gross (27 holes) would have been good enough to beat a field of 100 players. Congratulations Ev & Paul - I'm sure there's more to come. Runners up in the gross were Mr & Mrs Daylight & Elaine & William Murray followed the Daylights closely with 145 off the beater. In the nett we saw the enduring team of Valerie Smith & Lindsay Ribbons take out the prize with a score of 119. They were a few shots better than Mirelle Fraser & Douglas Blanch on 122 3/4 NTP (4th/13th) Mens : William Murray. Ladies : N. Quite NTP(6th/15th) Ladies: Kay Holstein; Mens : Lindsay Ribbons Coming events: Sat 23 Aug : Hebbys Bakery - Individual Stableford Sat 30 Aug : Bowe & Lidbury 4-person ambrose.
