This isn't Tanai's first time being chosen to represent NSW in CHS having made the cut last year for the annual competition against Queensland and New Zealand.
Tanai qualified third for the 15 and under girls team after taking part in a State competition earlier in the year, representing the Hunter schools.
Making the team this year meant she was given the chance to travel to New Zealand, as it rotates between NSW, Queensland and New Zealand.
As Tanai has been around the squash court most of her life, she's quite comfortable with a squash racquet and has been known to achieve high rankings on the regional, State and National circuit outside of school. She plays three to four times a week, which includes taking part in the Gloucester competition.
She may not be new to the sport, but there's a first time for everything, and this year was the first time she won every game she played during the New Zealand competition. "I was pretty happy about that," Tanai smiled.
As well as taking part in the CHS competition, Tanai usually plays in the Australian Junior Championships, but has taken a break this year to focus on training.
She is looking to get back into the national competition next year, where she'll be playing in the under 17s division.
