Taree's Shane and Luke Carmichael (Team D21 Navara), Glenthorne's Daniel McCarthy and John Waugh (SKIDMARK) and Krambach's Warren Lewis and Rod Kirk (Black Dog) battled it out with 50 tandems in the Hunter Valley for the 2019 title.
Shane and Luke put in the best result of the local teams, finishing 39th with 479 points. Only eight points behind at the end of the 10-stage event, Warren and Rod finished 40th. With 422 points, Daniel and John placed 42nd.
For the first time, an international competitor came out on top. American Jesse Haines teamed up with Steve Johns at Lasernut Racing to win with 1306 points.
It was also the first time the event held a top ten shootout. Competitors raced across elements used in three previous stages with 150 points on the line.
