The side was dismissed for 125 in their clash with Old Bar at Chris Dempsey Oval. But a 'tricky wicket' proved to be a bowlers paradise, with Old Bar sneaking home on their last partnership.
Gloucester Cricket Association president Matthew Higgins said the side just needed to have more runs on the board.
"We just didn't get enough runs but it was a tricky wicket for both sides," he said.
Matthew and Blake Steadman topped scored with 24 runs.
In the reply, wickets were shared among the Bushmen bowlers but a crucial unbeaten half century from Tom Kelly made up the runs and secured the win for Old Bar.
"We had two dropped catches towards the end," Matthew lamented.
A highlight for the Bushmen was Brodie O'Brien on a hat-trick. He cleaned up the stumps of lower order batsmen Mikah Gibson and Ashley Kippax.
There will be some extra work at Bushmen training this week.
"We need to work on our catching and fielding," Matthew said.
"It's a team effort so we need to improve that and put runs on the board."
The side will face Taree West in round four at Taree Rec Field.
"We'll take over a full side and I'll back our bowlers to hopefully come away with the win," Matthew said.
Joint ventures collide
This week, Wingham/Gloucester travelled to Old Bar to play against Old Bar/Tinonee in round two of the under 16 Manning Junior Cricket competition.
Old Bar won the toss and sent Wingham/Gloucester out to bat first. Sean Pilgram and Paula Edwards opened the batting with Sean departing after two balls.
Harrison Edwards came out next and alongside Paula, formed a strong partnership until Paula was bowled for four runs leaving the score 2/28. RJ Shepperd was next and Harrison soon had to retire on 13 runs. Jack Shepperd alongside his brother kept the runs ticking over until RJ was controversially caught out.
Dylan Mitchell was next to the crease and started a steady partnership with Jack
until he was run out for seven. Jack retired on 19 shortly after Lucas Pope joined him at the crease, allowing Harrison to return only to get caught out. Jack Shepperd replaced him, hitting a strong four off his next ball only to be caught by the wicket keeper two balls later for 23. Wingham/Gloucester finished 9/78 all out. RJ Shepperd and Jack Bignell opened the bowling with RJ finishing his three overs at 0/9.
Jack Bignell finishing his bowling spell at 1/5 with two maiden overs. Harrison Edwards and Lucas Summerville bowled fantastically with both boys keeping Old Bar/Tinonee defending for five overs. Lucas Pope bowled next snatching a wicket in his second over leaving the home side at 2/43 after 10 overs.
Jack Shepperd bowled for the first time this season keeping Old Bar/Tinonee defending his spell of 0/14. Fielding was far better than last week however, Jack Bignell unfortunately dropped a catch during Jack Shepperd's second over.
Dylan Mitchell bowled next and halfway through the 15th over, Old Bar/Tinonee smashed a four to win. Old Bar/Tinonee won with 2/80 and two retirements.
Next week, Wingham/ Gloucester will host Taree West at home in Wingham for the final T20 of the season.
