Groups, businesses and individuals hosted a range of events throughout the month as a way of provides an opportunity to focus on breast cancer and its impact on the member of the community.
Staff at Gloucester Max Value and Gloucester Family Pharmacy's baked up a storm and presented a table full of goodies for anyone to purchase on Thursday, October 31.
Proceeds from the sale of the goodies and raffle, plus the personal donations will be passed onto Cancer Council NSW. The group managed to raise just over $850.
The week before, on Thursday, October 24, IAS Gloucester decided to turn its weekly coffee club pink, colour that presents breast cancer awareness for the occasion.
Not only did the group's participants, staff and visitors dress in the pink, but they ate pink as well.
After taking part in a few fundraising activities, the group managed to raise $145 which was donated to the Gloucester Breast Cancer Support Group.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer).
Survival rates continue to improve in Australia with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis.
