A slightly smaller roll up of U/14 cricketers than usual took to No 2 on Saturday.
Runs flowed early with Jackson Moore playing some wonderful strokes on his way to 32 (retired).
Harvey Willis was solid support at the other end also retiring for 22. Sam Collie picked up where the previous batsmen left off scoring a well compiled 17 retired off 30 his balls faced. A mix up running between wickets saw Albie Cameron dismissed via a direct hit from Jackson Moore at square leg.
Rhys Summerville and Lachlan Sansom shared a great partnership with Rhys scoring 17 retired and Lachlan 7. Andrew Fraser played some nice strokes on his way to 14 retired. Albie Cameron wrestled some authority back for the bowlers, taking two wickets in his 3rd over to finish with the impressive figures of 2/3. Jackson Moore, Lachlan Sansom and Travis Allardice chipping in with 1 wicket each.
Under 10s
With all junior cricket in the Manning and Hastings areas cancelled due to the fires, smoke and poor air quality conditions, the under 16s had the weekend off.
Team North and East took on South and West this week with South/West batting first. Nick Maslen (17-1out) top scored with Riley Blanch (10) Kyan Lue (9-1out) and Liam Walmsley (7-1out) being the main scorers. The team ended up with 56 off the bat but when the 8 dismissals were factored into the equation, the score was only 16.
Xanthe Fenning showed the boys how it was done with the bowling figures of 2/8, with Beau Laurie (1/7), Jarrod Plater (2/9), Chris Bolton (1/6) and Henry Maggs (2/10) all contributed with wickets.
North/East came out firing with Beau Laurie (11-1out) Jarrod Plater (10), Chris Bolton (12) and William Wooster (14) all scoring freely. Charlie Bignell blazed some glorious cover drives on his way to a top score of 20 runs.
Kyan Lue (2/7) the only wicket taker for South/West. Team North/East scored 79 runs with two dismissals and were clear winners.
