Police attended the Showground and requested the Show Society relocate people to the Club Taree evacuation centre for safety reasons.
People with horses are the only ones allowed to continue to use Wingham Showground as an evacuation point.
Similarly, Wingham Services Club, which was being opened as an official evacuation point by the Department of Family and Community Services, was requested by police to stand down.
Anyone evacuating should go to the evacuation centres at either Club Taree or the Taree Showground. There is no more room at Taree Showground for horses, so if you have horses go to Wingham Showground.
The changes were made as conditions worsened on Tuesday afternoon, with the Rumba Dump Fire heading south toward Wingham.
Residents of Wingham are now starting to find blackened leaves in the yards, meaning their is a possibility of embers.
