MidCoast Council is working work toward the development of a Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (PAMP) and a Bike Plan, and the first part of the project involves community consultation.
Gloucester and Stroud residents are encouraged to come to the Gloucester Senior Citizens Centre, 30 Hume Street on Tuesday, December 3 from 6pm to be a part of the conversation and help identity the priority areas.
Council has engaged specialist consultants, Stantec, to undertake an independent review of the region's pedestrian and cycle routes. Stantec has considerable experience in delivery of traffic and transportation projects across all stages of the project life cycle including planning, development and implementation.
Once they review the existing pedestrian, cycleway and access plans, they will determine the future pedestrian and cycle key routes as well as identify opportunities for developing and enhancing pedestrian and cycle related activities and attractions for community members and visitors.
The call for improved mobility access around the council region was undercovered during council's community conversations held earlier this year.
"We've heard loud and clear that pedestrian and mobility access, improved footpaths and cycleways are a priority across the region," council's director of infrastructure and engineering services, Rob Scott said.
"The development of our Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (PAMP) and Bike Plan will enhance the sustainability and liveability of the Mid Coast local communities and enable pedestrians, cyclists and motorists to interact with consideration and safety."
MidCoast Council and Stantec invite all residents to be part of the conversation and share ideas in their area. Visit council's events list on its website for information on all the meetings.
