Started by a collection of 'rev heads' and 'car enthusiasts, Gloucester Auto Club (GAC) is off and running.
It's only been a few months since the club kicked off and it already has around 40 members.
According to club vice president, Julie Ireland it's been more popular than expected.
In late June, they put a call out to community to come together to see if a club is what people wanted, and 30 people turned up.
"We were shocked we got some many people," Julie said. "We asked them what they wanted and we voted to start a club."
Membership is open to anyone with a licence or an interest in vehicles or stationary motors.
"We're open to cars, bikes, trucks, basically anything with an engine. We don't want to limit membership to a certain make or model," Julie said. "You don't even have to own a car, just share the love of them."

Prior to the club starting up, anyone who wanted to mix with liked-minded motor lovers needed to join a club outside of the area. One of the benefits to being in a car club is the option for historic registration. It grants people who own historic vehicles (including trailers) 30 years of age or older conditional registration, which means they can take their babies out for a ride once in a while without having to comply with all the modern safety requirements. GAC recently gained this status and is now able to offer historic registration to its members.
Another benefit to being in a club is the chance to go on road trips, visit car shows or just hang out and chat mechanics with other enthusiasts. Basically, it's an excuse to get the car out. GAC can sometimes be spotted on a Sunday morning at the old Gloucester Machinery Shed when they meet up for Cars and Coffee. Members grab a coffee from one of the local cafes, then hang out at the shed to talk cars.
GAC meets at the Gloucester Country Club on the third Thursday of every month at 6.30pm with membership costing $50 for the year. For more information visit the club's Facebook page.
