The players returned to the field after a week break due to the dry conditions for another closely fought contest. Hamish Heroes battled first on a wicket impacted by of all things, a rain shower one hour before play. Lucas Summerville again showed fine form with the bat for 36 not out, well supported by the captain Hamish McClure with 24. Bob Mac somehow managed 3/23 for a total of 108. After a slow start, Rowans Rebels picked up the scoring late in the innings to win the game in the final over. Captain Rowan Everett (31) and Marc Edwards (35) set up the win. In a man of the match performance Hamish McClure bowled well for 2/13.

Under 10s

All players were on deck on Saturday after last week's game was cancelled due to the smoke. Max Delsperger won the toss for East/West and elected to bat in the clash with North/South.

Max and William Wooster (16,1 out), Nick Maslen (5) and Jarrod Plater (1,1 out) all compiled steady runs but it was the batting pair of Liam Wamsley (11) and Brodie Baker (27, 1 out) that really pushed the scoring along. Henry Maggs (1/2), Chris Bolton (1/5) and Samantha Fraser (1/4) were the best bowlers for North/South.

Jarrah Baker (8,1 out) and Riley Blanch (14) were keen to chase down the runs and Riley's pull shot for six was something worth watching. Kyan Lue (10), Beau Laurie (10, 2 out) and Chris Bolton (16, 1 out), all contributed to the score, but the East/West players kept control of them with accurate bowling and even better fielding. Nick Maslen (2/21), Jarrod Plater (2/6) and Xanthe Fenning (1/6) were among the wickets

When the score was tallied up, both teams scored 69 runs off the bat but it was the seven dismissals to 10 that was the difference. East/West won 34 to 19.

Under 14s

The Under 14s were promoted to play on No.1 this week. Harvey Willis and Rhys Summerville opened the batting with both making a solid start against some tight new ball bowling from Jackson Moore and Sam Collie. Harvey made 12 not out which brought Jacob Edwards to the crease. This signified the start of a devastating spell from Albie Cameron who proceeded to tear through the middle order taking the scalps of Jacob, Travis Allardice and Cody Sparke in his first over. He then claimed the wicket of Rhys for seven with a great catch taken by Jackson Moore. Albie finished with the figures of 4/2. Oliver Sparke and Lachlan Sansom then steadied the ship before Oliver was out to the ever-consistent Nicholas Maggs for four. Lachlan then combined with Andrew Fraser with Lachlan scoring 21 before being bowled by Blake Walker. Andrew Fraser played some lovely shots on his way to 22 before being run out. Sam Collie compiled 26 before succumbing to Lachlan Sansom who bowled two overs for the figures of 2/0. Albie Cameron batted well for six not out late in the order with Harvey Willis, Travis Allardice and Thomas Maggs the other wicket takers for the morning.

Gloucester Bushmen put in an all-round performance to secure a wash-out win against Old Bar in the Manning second grade cricket competition.

The Bushmen batted first, with opener Johny Cornelius notching a half ton. He was stumped shortly after.

The top and middle order methodically ticked over the runs but would be eventually felled.

Gloucester's batting depth was on display for the first time this season, with bowlers Ben Reynolds (38) and Kenneth Wamsley (41) scoring late runs for the side to finish 8/259 after 40 overs.

In reply, Old Bar were 3/83 after 20 overs before the rain arrived. This spelled the end of the game, with the Bushmen taking victory by Duckworth/Lewis method.

"The batting was excellent and the bowling was really good," club president Matthew Higgins, who didn't play in the match, said.

He was pleased the side's bowling attack was back to full strength after the crushing defeat at the hands of Great Lakes a week before.

Higgins will be back for the side's clash with Taree West on Saturday in Gloucester.

"We will be hoping to repeat that performance (Old Bar game)," he said.

"We'll have a strong side but you never know what will happen on the day.

"Everyone is buzzing."
