The campaign was launched in late October to help support the small businesses doing it tough during the drought.
Karen saw the Facebook post and decided to list her Stroud Valley Harvest Christmas hampers on the State Government's website and things took off.
"Within hours of SVH being added to the website we had received enquires, mainly from Sydney, which was wonderful," Karen said.
She said one of her orders included 40 hampers from one of the big four banks. In fact, orders were rolling in so fast and furious she had to take her business off the site as she was no longer able to keep up with the demand.
"As we are a small family business, we decided to do what we do well rather than disappoint customers," she explained.
Karen said her business sales were up 25 per cent from the year before. Overall, she's impressed the with State Government's initiative to help showcase regional small businesses.
"I thought it was a great opportunity not only to promote our family business, but also our region," Karen said.
The hope is now that the State Government will look to run this type of campaign every year.
"It brings awareness to our regional areas, helps support rural economies, and it also provides consumers with the choice of purchasing a locally made product."
The Buy Regional campaign was targeted at Sydney residents wanting to help regional communities affected by drought.
Regional businesses were encouraged to list their wares on the government's online hub which offered a one-stop shop showcasing regional goods making it easy for shoppers to find the perfect Christmas gift and support regional NSW. The hub is divided into six categories: wine, fashion, food, gifts for kids, art and design, and Christmas hampers, and is taking orders up until December 15.
