Harrington markets on New Year's Day are hosted by Marine Rescue in John Oxley Reserve and are very popular with both visitors and the locals alike. The market has a wide variety of stalls selling crafts, produce, clothing, plants, and much more. All proceeds from the markets go towards financing Marine Rescue Boats and operations.

Tuesday (New Year's Eve)
Fireworks on the Foreshore in Queen Elizabeth Park, Taree from 5pm to 9pm Tuesday, December 31 with a line-up of live entertainment including The Southern Hold. Fireworks start at 9pm.
Fireworks on the Foreshore in John Wright Park, Tuncurry from 5pm to 9pm Tuesday, December 31 with a line-up of live entertainment including The Big Fins, plus a carnival, food stalls and rides for the children. Fireworks start at 9pm.
Pacific Palms Recreation Club are holding fireworks at 9pm followed by a live band and DJ
There are no fireworks in Black Head or Tea Gardens
Wednesday (New Year's Day)
John Gollan Day at Harrington's annual festival, kicks off with the Harrington markets at John Oxley Reserve from 8am, live Music from 5pm on the foreshore and a fireworks display at 9pm from the Harrington breakwall.
Tagged Fish Competition in Harrington. Catch one of the 25 tagged fish during the month of January (1 - 31) and present the tag at the Harrington Hotel on Beach Street to claim your prize. $18,000 in prizes up for grabs.
Puzzles and and Colouring at the library. Come along with the kids and enjoy puzzles and board games together or colour in a masterpiece at the Taree, Forster, Nabiac, Harrington, Wingham, Hallidays Point and Tea Gardens libraries. Each day in the January School holidays during opening hours.
