A shop worker is being tested for COVID-19 and the RAA says it has taken the precaution of closing the store to protect other workers and residents from potential exposure.
Should the worker test positive, it would mark the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Whyalla.
In the event of a positive test, the RAA says it will work with authorities to identify and contact anyone who may have come into direct contact with the worker.
The results of the test are expected during the weekend with the re-opening of the shop scheduled for Monday depending on whether the case is confirmed.
