The MidCoast library event is all about Paul's biographical book, The Last Navigator, which is a first-hand account of Gordon Goodwin's experience during World War II.
It covers Gordon's bravery in undertaking one of the most dangerous occupations of all, flying with the Pathfinders as they led bombing raids into Germany during WWII.
From his early life in the Queensland bush, to a war career, Gordon's extraordinary life was one of courage and survival against the odds.
He undertook 32 Pathfinder missions, including nine over Berlin, and 65 missions over enemy territory with Bomber Command.
Paul Goodwin recounts the stories contained in his father's memoirs, saying his book is more than a tale of warfare.
"It is my hope that I have captured my parents' remarkable experiences, their love for each other and my father's passion for the outdoors, almost in spite of his bitter beginnings," Paul said.
Gordon Goodwin died in 2012, aged 94.
The free talk will take place on Zoom from 6pm on Wednesday July 22, and bookings are essential. Visit library.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/Events for more information and to book for this event.
