Sub-branch president, Dallas Heard had a big smile on his face as he presented Scout group leader, Adam Glew with four brand new camp chairs, complete with side tables on Wednesday, September 2.
"The scouts do us a favour by helping to raise the flags and set up the seating arrangement for our commemorations and in return we make a donation," Dallas explained.
Since the resurgence of the Gloucester Scout Group in November 2017 after a 20 year or so absence from the community, members have put up their hands to help the sub-branch.
Scouts have made themselves available to unpack, set up and pack up the chairs for events held by the sub-branch at the clock tower in Gloucester Memorial Park.
It's a job that can prove difficult for the ageing sub-branch members and the help is always greatly appreciated; hence the donations, the sub-branch's way of saying thank you and giving a little back to the volunteer-run group.
"The Gloucester Scout Group really appreciates the donation," Adam said. "The chairs will be used during our camping outings. They provide a place to sit and with the side table, a place to eat."
It's the second time the sub-branch has made a donation to the scout group. Last year, the branch donated four rechargeable hanging lanterns that are also used during the scouts camping expeditions.
