Saturday's competition was the Gloucester Golf Club's annual Teachers Cup and we extend our gratitude to former hard working (or maybe it was hardly working) teacher Mark Howland for organising a fine array of trophies. The 46 golfers who hit off on the day certainly appreciated it. The glorious spring weather is obviously agreeing with many players because the scores, on average, seem to be improving week by week.

Peter Markey was the standout performer on the day and the ear-to-ear grin on Peter's face at the end of the round was evidence of the fact that he carded an impressive 41 points to take out the 2020 Teachers Cup. This puts him on the verge of B Grade status - which has been beckoning for some time now. Great work Pedro! In A Grade our tireless club captain Roy Crichton posted a well-earned win with 37 points. Congratulations Roy on a long-overdue win. Well done on your efforts as club captain too - the members greatly appreciate the countless hours you contribute to our club.

In B Grade one of our elder statesmen Denver Webb proved that age does not weary them and his 37 points was proof in the putting! Denver hardly puts a foot wrong on the golf course - it's a different story when he's checking the cattle though - but that's a tale for another day. Good shooting Denver.

Runner up trophies were also on offer & Jamie Andrews' 36 in A Grade, Mark Howland's 36 in B Grade and Glenn Williams' 38 in C Grade were good enough the take out 2nd place in each grade.

Next week's event is a 4 person Ambrose for the Bowe & Lidbury Trophy - this will be another full field so get your teams organised and get them on the sheet early for your favoured time slot.
