Even though he's only a very part-time golfer, we were fortunate enough to have our sponsor join us for a round on Saturday. Hearty thanks to Rodney (Summy) Summerville for putting up a magnificent array of trophies. It was also great to see your two sons, Lucas and Rhys and some other part-timers join you on the day. Hopefully we can get a few of you to sign up as full playing members. The cored greens proved a little challenging. However, with the humid/showery conditions we are having presently the greens will be back to their pristine best in no time.
Winners on the day came in the form of two father/son combos. Roy and Shane Crichton and Brian and Nathan McInnes posted a 56 nett to just edge out the sponsors team of Rodney and Rhys Summerville, Riley Collins and Mick Kellehear by half a shot. Summy then generously donated the second place trophy back. Hence Brian Osborne, Ryan Yates, Mitch Andrews and Jamie Andrews who had 56 3/4 were promoted to second spot. Coming in third was Robin Moore and his formidable band of merry men Kev Arney, Paul Coote and Bruce McKechnie (58 1/2 c/b). Next best was Graeme Marsh, Kyran Laurie, Lucas Summerville and Andy Laurie (58 1/2). The story goes that the winning team of Roy, Shane, Brian and Nathan almost knocked it in the hole for an albatross 2 on a par 5. It just grazed the hole and finished less than a metre behind the hole.
The prizes continued to flow at presentation time with Summy donating a large drum of oil as a mystery prize. Col Laurie was the lucky recipient. It's unclear whether the oil will be used on Col's machinery or his creaky old body parts.
Next week will be an individual stableford for the Avon Valley Concreting Trophy Day.
Please get your names on the sheet in the back bar for the annual presentation night which is to be held on Saturday November 7. It is very important that all our members support this night so please bring your partners/friends & help us celebrate the year of golfing highlights.
Super Seven results from this week: Winner: Peter Buettel 18. Balls also to Ben Veitch, Chris Pritchard, Jim Dunn and Graham Hjorth 17 and Glyn Rees and Bill Murray 16 on a c/b.
Good golfing.
