The event was exceptional only in the sense it was played Monday November 2 rather than the usual Tuesday making way for a Melbourne Cup event the following day.
The day itself was 'back to winter' or almost ... cold and a tad windy a condition generally reflected in the scores across the field with only two players equalling or bettering their handicap. Roy Crichton of course was one with Graham Hjorth on 36 points the other. The 'also rans' picking up ball prizes were Mark Stone and Bill Murray 34, Col Roser 33, Gary Peters 32 and Mike Howard 31 on a count back from the field.
The 'stayer's award' went to Jim Dunn.
The next events on the veteran golfers' calendar are both individual Stabelfords, sponsored by Joost and Bonnie Werz and the veteran golfers on Tuesdays 10 and 17 of November respectively.
