Wet conditions delay play on the bowling green

The Gloucester Bowling Club's Thursday bowls for start was delayed due to wet conditions which caused some upset results with Kevin Burley, Don Meheiloff and Robbie Bowden becoming the champion mud runners defeating Kevin Everett, Stephen Hurworth and Clice Redman 19-4. Graham Holstein showed plenty of promise combining with Alex Laurie and Lu Urby to defeat Terry Higgins, Rob Gibson and Norm McLeod 22-14. Vic Hebblewhite and George Wisemantel combined with the new import Ken Bryant to defeat Steven Higgins, Neville Atkins and Terry Davies 25-8. While Gordon Pritchard, Charlie Faulkner and Steve Kriss defeated Robert Hayes, Col Beattie and Paul Sheridan 14-12.

The final of the mixed pairs was contested on Sunday between the husband and wife combination of Kevin and Jill Everett against John Andrews and Jenny Burley. Jill placed bowls around the kitty on most ends and Kevin drew some important shots when required which proved to be the winning combination defeating John and Jenny 23-18 to become another husband and wife team to take the championship trophy.

In the only game of the minor singles, Gary Moss defeated Kevin Burley with Gary taking out Kevin's shot bowls at the important stage of the match snatching victory 31-25 to advance to the second round. There will be no championship bowls this weekend due to a visit by the Karuah mixed bowlers with games on Saturday and Sunday therefore the next round of the minor singles will be played on Saturday November 21.
