Saturday's competition for the Gloucester Golf Club saw another good filed of 32 golfers hit the hallowed fairways of royal Gloucester and our illustrious sponsor this week was GWG Constructions. Our thanks to Greg West, who has been putting this day on (in various formats) for 30 odd years. Greg is one of our hardest working members and his tireless efforts around the course with countless refurbishments cannot be understated. Thank you Greg.
Our winners on the day included our local 1-marker Paul Blanch and former Gloucesterite Mark "Jug" Monro. Jug's newly purchased clubs turned out to be money well spent as he blazed a trail of pars & birdies to post 45 very impressive individual points. Paul must have helped out on a few holes because their combined score ended up at 48 points for the 2BBB.
The sponsor himself was part of the runners up team along with Stacey Groves with their score of 45 points just edging out Mark Howland and Rob Moore also on 45. Greg was generous enough to donate his prize back into the mix so Rob Moore was deemed to be most worthy of that trophy due to his highly superior individual score. Ball Comp: Above mentioned plus Steve Burns and Ben Veitch 43.
NTPs: A Grade : Greg West , B Grade: Mark Howland, C Grade: Doug Barron (almost a hole in one). The highlight of the day was produced by our sponsor Greg who proudly took out the Long Drive in A Grade. Daniel Parkin took out the second shot NTP. Next Saturday is the annual Bowden Family Trophy Day and the sheet is now full. Due to the size of the field players to need be extra vigilant of slow play and also keep the COVID rules in mind.
Results from this week's Super 7s: Winner: Mark Howland who lit up the course with 20 points and only finished 2 over par for 9 holes. Ball winners: Joost Werz 19, David Hjorth 19, Rob Moore 18, Denver Webb 16, Graeme Marsh 16, Glynn Rees 16, and M. Holt 14.
Until next time - good golfing.
