Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Group (BWNG) would like to mark International Day of People with Disability on December 3 by shinning a spotlight on the contributions local people living with disability make to our community.

According to BWNG CEO, Anna Burley, community members living with a disability are a constant source of inspiration to BWNG's team.

"We have many individuals that just take on the challenges that life throws at them, and they do it with grace," she said.

"We had one gentleman who was restricted in his ability to access the community due to needing a new wheelchair.

"We worked tirelessly behind the scenes to access a new wheel chair through his plan, and he just never gave up," she said.

"As locals looking after locals, strong bonds are formed between our support workers and clients, so when we know that something like a new wheelchair can make such a difference to a person's life, we're determined to make that happen for them. "

On December 3, BWNG would especially like to reach out to those dealing with the challenges of less visible disabilities. "We recognise that not all disability can be seen, and we understand the challenges of living with conditions like chronic pain, vision impairment, epilepsy or mental illness," Anna said.

"If you're living with disability in the Gloucester Area we can help you live your idea of a good life.

"We'll listen to what you what to achieve, and we'll coordinate your supports to help you reach your goals, because we believe that it is your life, and your choices. We'll make sure you feel listened to, supported, respected and safe."

By choosing a locally based provider you ensure your NDIS funds are invested back into your own community. Established in 1989, we have been providing services for more than 30 years.

"We are Gloucester's own disability support provider. We don't have out of area branches - we are solely focussed on the community of Gloucester and surrounds."
