AN outstanding line-up of 23,186 head of cattle greeted buyers at the Bowe and Lidbury November 13 AuctionsPlus sale with Macka's Pastoral offering 287 head of quality Black Angus, topping the sale in three categories.
Macka's Australian Black Angus principal Robert Mackenzie, Oakfield Park, Port Stephens, said he was overwhelmed with the result of the sale which saw 110 NSM yearling heifers, 15-16 months, topping the sale at $2130, $350 above the nearest price.
"We also had 125 Angus weaner heifers, 7-9mths, which topped the market at $1270 (605c/kg) and Angus weaner steers which also topped at $1535 (583c/kg)."
The fourth-generation producer continues to break new ground in the cattle market, securing new and repeat buyers looking for high quality Black Angus cattle.
"I feel proud that people put so much trust in our brand and in our cattle to be willing to pay the prices they did for the quality of those cattle. "I'm also humbled and thankful for the support in the local community and grateful for what the Macka's team does for us. Without them, we wouldn't be where we are today."
Macka's Australian Black Angus Beef take a holistic approach to their operation, with Black Angus cattle reared across five NSW properties.
Mr Mackenzie said he looked forward to the new year which will see the Macka's brand continue to invest in bull selection, focusing on maternal mothers. "We want to be known for producing really high quality replacement heifers and we're also very excited about expanding our export arm of Macka's Australian Black Angus in 2021. "We're passionate about promoting Australian agriculture and, knowing that we have a premium, green, clean product you can promote around the world - it makes you very proud."
Bowe and Lidbury director and agent Michael Easey commended Macka's Pastoral on the quality of their offering with many buyers looking to restock and build their numbers up.
"It was certainly a fantastic result with both lots of yearling cattle staying local.
"Rob is very particular with his sires and he certainly pays attention to what he's doing and to the market to get the best results."
