The win went to Phil Hawkins for his net score of 73 beating Bill Murray into second place on a countback. Veteran's Treasurer Peter Buettel won the putting competition with a dazzlingly low 27 putts.
Our day started out overcast and coolish with some light rain to get the field under way a condition that soon eased to a mild mid-twenties early summer day with a nice stiff breeze to keep us all on our toes making things a tad interesting.
Phil Hawkins won the day with nett 73 a countback ahead of Bill Burray 73; this qualified Bill to lead the winners in the ball competition, joined by Denver Webb, Bert Newman, Phil Patterson, Joost Werz and Roy Crichton all separated from each other and the field by multiple count backs.
Peter Buettel won the putting competition with a mere 27 putts while the nearest-to-the-pins were won by Bruce Fraser at the 4th-13th hole and Ian Maggs at the 6th-15th hole.
Col Roser won the stayers award for the day. And mentioning the stayers award leads me to report that Col Roser and Denver Webb celebrated their birthdays .... and a combine 159 years, not all as golfers.
Gloucester Veteran golfers open their lead up to the year's end with an Individual Stableford on 1 December sponsored by David and Penny Mitchell.
