The event was an individual Stableford in three grades due to be sponsored by long term sponsor Gloucester Tyre and Auto. However, with the weather forecast was so poor and a considerable likelihood of there being no play at all, the club sponsored the event directly. No doubt they will be looking to Gloucester Tyre and Auto to "pick up the slack" when weather gets a tad more predictable and a few more golfers feel able to turn out for a game.
The winner in A grade was Kyran Laurie while Steve Hurworth took the top spot with a modest 34 points in B Grade and Gary Cobbing took out C Grade with 35 points. The ball competition saw Kyran Laurie 37, Gary Cobbing 35, Steve Hurworth 34, Paul Blanch and Jamie Andrews 33 all pick up a ball for their afternoon's effort. Nearest-to-the-pins were won by Paul Blanch at the 4th-13th holes and G Clarke and Gary Cobbing at the 6th-15th holes. The long drive of the day went to B Grader Rob Moore.
The Super Sevens competition for the week ended Friday 19 February was Doug Blanch with 14 points followed by Mike Howard 13 and Wayne Maddalena and Denver Webb with 12 points.
Next Saturday, February 27, the club is conducting a Two-Person Ambrose event sponsored by Gloucester Ceramics and the first outing in March Saturday 6, sees our regular Arkwood Trophy Day an individual stroke for the March Monthly Medal; other trophies in three grades.
