"I am advised that inspections of newly accessible sections of the bridge have revealed further damage delaying the expected re-opening to general traffic until before the Easter long weekend," Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said.
"While this is an inconvenience to many these works are necessary to ensure safety. Further safety inspections will continue as more sections of the bridge become accessible."
Emergency vehicles can access the bridge for priority situations if they give prior notice to traffic control.
The closure of the bridge has caused significant delays and heavy traffic throughout the Manning and Great Lakes.
Peak hour afternoon traffic continues to cause long delays along Chatham Avenue since vehicles can only access the Pacific Highway via the Dawson River Bridge and Cundletown exit.
There have also been significant delays along The Lakes Way.
