Taking part as one of the Mid Coast region's bowling club venues was part of a two year succession that was interrupted for a year due to COVID. The club welcomed the honour in 2019 and were happy to see the Palm Lake Resort State Carnival resume again for 2021.
Nine clubs stretching from Taree to Bulahdelah had women from all over the State play bowls from Monday May 17 until Wednesday May 18 with the finals played on Thursday May 20 and Friday May 21 at host venue, Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club.
According to Gloucester club president Judy Sheely, the venue had 112 players attend each of the three days.
"Gloucester is renowned for our morning tea and hospitality," Judy smiled.
Many players came looking for the beautiful spread - which included Margaret Andrews' famous scones - upon arrival after hearing about how good it was. Club members all contributed to the morning tea, as well as helping to put together the raffles prizes.
"The men have been very supportive - some umpiring and some serving food," she said.
Gloucester had three teams of four players take part in the event. Every team played six games within their section rotating around the venues each day. The winners each section progressed into the finals.
Overall Judy was happy with how the event went and looks at it as a great opportunity to bring people to town.
